ABOUT US
Quick Sticks Pictures is an independent film & TV production company formed in Sydney, Australia, by Morgan Smallbone.
Since graduating from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 1993, Morgan's journey through the entertainment industry has seen him branch out from acting, to directing for the stage (NIDA, 2000), as well as Film & TV at the WA Screen Academy (Bachelor of Communications, 2006)
He has directed plays by Edward Albee, Ben Jonson, Beth Henley, David Lindsay-Abaire & Marsha Norman. For the Sydney Festival, he was artist liaison for The Maly Theatre Company of St Petersburg, The Gate Theatre, Dublin, and the legendary Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys - who called him a 'cool cat'!
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2008) found him in the extras casting department, where he has become highly respected and sought after, working on prestige films and TV productions such as The Great Gatsby, The Wolverine, Unbroken, Alien: Covenant, Top of the Lake and The Leftovers.
In 2007 he pitched to Seed Productions an adaptation of Blood Money, Trisha Stratford's compelling account of her time in Somalia as a journalist for 60 Minutes: New Zealand during the tumultuous civil war and 'black hawk down' period. Seed optioned the book, and it went into development. This sparked Morgan's obsession with the Indie Epic - true stories that play out on a global canvas, but often escape mainstream attention, which is evident in Quick Sticks' current slate.
Above all, Quick Sticks aims to entertain and put the audience at the centre of its attention.
